SCVFD Auxiliary Activities

By Cynthia Austin

Many of you may recall that we formally launched the SCVFD Auxiliary at last year’s picnic.  To date, we have eight members, but we have plenty of projects currently planned for the year.

Besides the newsletter, we are finally launching our very own SCVFD website.  Send us comments or items to be added to Web Master: Grace Ensign Seidman’s email: graceensign@gmail.com

We are gathering information for the creation and production of a detailed area map for use by the fire department in case of an emergency.   As many of you know, the addresses in the area do not always follow the normal numbering pattern found in the flatlands.  For this reason, we often find people and emergency vehicles needing assistance in finding an address.  The map we are developing will include the location of all the houses along with the names and addresses of homes or businesses (like the wineries) — amazing how confusing that can be —and related access/egress routes.  Over this summer, if someone contacts you about this project, please help out with any information you think would be helpful.

The Auxiliary is also trying to track community events, and we will be posting the list to our website.  Look under the "Community Event page" link.  Please let us know if you hear of an event or news that you believe is important or of interest to our community, and we will add it to the list.

If you would like to become a part of the Auxiliary or help in any other way on a project, please let Cynthia Austin  408-867-6528 or Grace Seidman 408-867-9767 know, and we would be happy to welcome your participation.
